So you want to get more responses to your messages on dating or social networking sites? Maybe you want to have cute girls message you first sometimes? Maybe your not getting messages from the right kinds of guys? Well in this article I am going to cover some tips to help you take your online profile to the next level and do just that! First things first, you need pictures, if you don’t have any on your profile you have almost no chance of getting responses no matter how cool you are. There are certain types of photos that you should include and certain types that you should avoid. Heres what they are and why:
Include:
Pictures involving your interests or with friends – These type of pictures show who you are, they bring a personal touch to a cold electronic screen. Also they show that you really are interested in the things you. If you claim that your an avid hiker, wouldn’t it make sense that you might have a picture from your hiking adventures? Also they give a more visual representation of who you are and what kind of groups you like to spend time with. As an example I enjoy travel very much. So I have this picture of me in New York City with some friends.

Pictures with family and/or pets- These type of pictures also personalize your profile but in a different way. These pictures show your humanity, they give a glimpse into the real personal you on the inside. Pictures involving your interests are like a preview of dating you, this type of picture is like a preview of being in a relationship with you. Again I will share an example of my own. This picture comes from last Christmas when I was visiting family

Picture with members of the opposite sex- These pictures are surprisingly important and often overlooked. Basically these pictures show that you are not socially akward or socially “lop-sided”. They show that you are romantically desirable and they show that other people find you atractive. This is important because people tend to naturally follow the herd, for example if someone was an attractive, funny, interesting man or woman yet members of the opposite sex ran from them like the plague… wouldn’t that make you a bit suspicious of them? Perhaps they aren’t what they seem to be. On the other side of the coin, if you meet someone who seems rather average, yet everyone loves them it can have the same effect but in a good way this time. Here is another example from my own life, of a picture that was taken with a friend of mine at a cage fight.

Avoid:
“Mirror Self Pics”- I’m not big on negatives so I’m only going to cover the most common type of image you should not include in your profile if you can avoid it. Mirror pics just look juvenille and don’t show people anything. It can leave people wondering why you didn’t insted include pictures that were taken by someone else… which naturally leads to wondering if perhaps the answer is because you have no friends to take pictures with, or even of you. Also due to the popularity of myspace and facebook these pictures have flooded the internet and have been associated with either pre-teen girls or “attention whores”, if your looking for a decent grown up date, you don’t want to be associated with either of these things. And for you guys, I put up a mirror picture of myself to show yo uwhat I am talking about.

In conclusion be yourself, it’s cliche’ but its true. Give people glimpses into the personal aspects of yoru life and they will be more likely to open up as well.
